Assembly Bill 74 Implementation: Addressing College Student Homelessness

In the 2019-20 State Budget, $19 million was allocated annually to California’s three public post-secondary institutions to be used to support Rapid Rehousing efforts that assist homeless and housing insecure college students. Campuses are to use this funding to establish partnerships with community-based housing providers to provide wrap-around services and rental subsidies for eligible students. Of this $19 million, the University of California (UC) system will receive an annual $3.5 million, the California State University (CSU) system will receive an annual $6.5 million, and the California Community College (CCC) system will receive an annual $9 million.
